The world of magic in art

What do a painter’s brush and a magician’s wand have in common? The Tabusso Art Gallery invites you to the event The world of magic in art.

Since ancient times, humankind has sought to give substance and form to the inexplicable. To do so, it has followed two parallel paths: art and magic. During the event, we will explore the iconography of mystery, discovering how art has given a face to our fears and our darkest desires. We will examine the metamorphosis of the witch: from a demonic creature in the Renaissance and Baroque periods to a symbol of freedom, rebellion and harmony with nature in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.

But we won’t stop there. We will try to understand why, ultimately, the artist is, in every sense, a modern magician: someone who rejects reality as it is in order to conjure up a new one, transforming and reinventing it.
