Miró and the Canticle of Brother Sun

The exhibition Miró and the Canticle of Brother Sunset up at the Milan Capuchin Museum, celebrates the 800 years of the famous Canticle of the Creatures by St Francis of Assisicomposed in 1225. The centrepiece of the exhibition is a rare and evocative series of etchings made in 1975 by Joan Mirówhich reinterpret the Franciscan text with the unmistakable visual poetics of the Catalan artist. The intense and spiritual works blend with the power of the Canticle, offering a unique visual dialogue between word and image.

Alongside these engravings, the exhibition includes a selection of graphic works by the Twentieth centuryincluding those of the fine artist Gian Luigi Uboldi (1915-2005), known for his mastery of the woodcut e etching. The exhibition programme is enriched by guided tours, workshops for schools, thematic conferences and the 6th edition of the Iconographic Marathon, which will delve into the theme of angels.
